ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) –  An investigation is underway after an apparent drive-by shooting ended outside of Beaumont High School Monday morning.

Authorities were called to the school, located in the 3800 block of Natural Bride Avenue, around 9 a.m.

Police on the scene said occupants of a black sedan began firing at a 34-year-old man driving a second car near the intersection of Prairie Avenue and St. Louis Avenue. Both cars continued driving, until the victim's car crashed on Natural Bridge, outside of Beaumont High School. The car was shot multiple times, but the driver was not injured.

Three or four other cars near the school were struck by bullets. Nobody was injured.

The victim told police he did not know who the shooter was. He also told police he was on his way home after dropping a child off at school.

The school was briefly on a lock down, but it was lifted by 9:40 a.m.

Natural Bridge between Prairie and Vandeventer was closed until around 12:20 p.m. as authorities investigated the incident.
