$6 million housing development being built in Moscow Mills

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Moscow Mills will soon be home to a new $6 million housing development.

Mayor Mike Clynch said parts of his town have the lowest home ownership rate in the region. The new development will allow those making $42,000 or less to settle in the area.

Mayor Clynch said the goal is to keep young families and public employees while bringing those who live in neighboring areas to the region.

In the meantime, the construction is expected to help small businesses, such as lumber, plumbing and roofing. It will also help expand the tax base in the area.

“It also is going to allow a large investment in our city. Forty sewer and water taps which folks now help pay the freight for sewer and water services,” Mayor Clynch said. “They are going to pay real estate taxes and it’s going to increase our population and developers around the region hopefully will start paying attention to us.”

The developer said he has already received interest from several families in the area.

The 40 homes are expected to be completed in the spring or summer of 2017.
