2 downtown restaurants closing soon are helping employees find work

Posted: Updated:

(KMOV.com) – Two downtown restaurants that recently announced their impending closure said they are searching for work for their employees.

Mike Shannon’s and Harry’s announced they will be closing January 31. Shortly after announcing the business closure, Shannon’s management began to call the top 25 restaurants in town. Around 160 employees work at the restaurant.

“We let them know that we’re closing and that the staff, a premier staff, was going to be available for hire,” said co-owner Patricia Shannon.

Some are concerned that so many restaurants are closing that it may be tough for employees to stay in the same business.

50 employees at Harry’s are looking for work. Harry’s will also be reaching out to other restaurants to see if they are hiring.

“They gave me email addresses, phone numbers, gave my staff online links so all of my staff could have ease in applying for jobs at all the different places,” Shannon said.

One Shannon’s employee told News 4 that Shannon has written a lot recommendation letters and that schedules have been moved around to allow employees to make job interviews.
