ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KMOV.com) – City leaders from across Lincoln and St. Charles County are pressing the Missouri Department of Transportation to make changes to Highway 61.

After a mother and her two children were killed during a wreck on the stretch of road last week, Wentzville Mayor Nick Guccione will hold a joint press conference to address safety concerns along the roadway. Mayors from the City of Moscow Mills and Troy, and a representative from Lincoln County will be at the conference to address safety concerns.

During the press conference, which will be held at Towne Park, officials will urge the state to install a barrier along the highway.

There is also an online petition for a median to be installed on the roadway to prevent future crossover crashes.
