LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Lincoln County Sheriff's officers arrested a man for multiple charges after allegedly driving 66 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone.

Officers were called to the intersection of Ridge Road and Highway KK, in Lincoln County, for a motor vehicle collision around 4 p.m. on June 27, 2015. The victim told officers that a small car t-boned him at the intersection and left the scene.

Police say that at the same time, a deputy conducting a stationing patrol along Walker Road, saw a speeding vehicle that matched the description.

The driver, Zachary Sean Turkington, 25, of Olney, was initially arrested by the deputy for driving with a revoked driver's license. Police say Turkington smelled of alcohol, and he later told them he drank nearly a pint of vodka earlier in the day. Police say that Turkington then failed a field sobriety test. The deputy then found an 11-month old boy in the vehicle, and he was taken into protective custody.

That's when deputies learned that Turkington was a suspect in allegations stemming from an incident earlier in the day, before the initial vehicle accident.

Earlier, Turkington and a female driver were allegedly engaged in a verbal argument while traveling east on Highway 47. The woman told police that Turkington ordered her to stop the vehicle and exit.  When she refused, Turkington allegedly began punching her in the head while she was still driving.

The woman told police that she stopped the vehicle and tried to get out when Turkington pulled her back into the car. A witness stopped and asked her if she needed assistance, when Turkington allegedly jumped into the driver's seat and drove away with the 11-month old in the backseat.

Shortly after, Turkington was involved in the motor accident and pulled over for speeding.

Turkington was charged with felony Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Domestic Assault and Driving While Intoxicated (prior offender). Turkington is currently being housed in the Lincoln County Jail under a $50,000 cash only bond.
