SUNSET HILLS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Prosecutors dropped criminal charges against Sunset Hills Mayor Mark Furrer, who was accused of striking bicyclist Randy Murick with a car in 2014.

Furrer was accused of intentionally striking Murdick on Old Gravois Road in South County in 2014. At the time, Murdick said he yelled back at the mayor as he forced him off the road. Murdick said Furrer then took off and stopped at a nearby turnoff.

Furrer said he yelled at Murdick but only because he claims Murdick ran a stop sign. Furrer told News 4 he did not bump Murdick or force him off the road, and added Murdick was the aggressor in the confrontation.

The prosecution chose to dismiss the case against Furrer, according to an order signed Tuesday by St. Louis County Circuit Judge Thomas J. Prebil.

Murdick had a separate civil case against Furrer, but his lawyer confirmed Wednesday that the civil case has also been dropped.
