ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) - St. Louis police are looking for at least two suspects who allegedly carjacked a pizza delivery driver in the Soulard neighborhood Saturday.

According to authorities, surveillance video caught the criminals in the act at the intersection of Shenandoah Avenue and Menard Street.

Two men wearing hoods and surgical masks exited a light colored SUV stopped in the middle of the street, police said.

Officials said the suspects walked toward the pizza delivery car stopped behind them, pulled out guns, and took the driver’s money and vehicle. The suspects then drove off in the SUV and stolen car.

“Definitely scary because I live so close,” said Emma Wils-Plotz, resident of Soulard. “Just driving, you have to go out at night and go from your house to your car, so it's definitely scary.”

Following the robbery, the pizza delivery driver threw his bag against a fence. St. Louis police officers responded minutes later to investigate.

The stolen car was found unoccupied on Iowa Avenue near Cherokee Street. the next day.

Mardi Gras events are coming up this weekend in the Soulard neighborhood, and residents say safety is on their minds, especially after this crime.

“It would be nice to see plenty of police and make sure nobody is doing anything too naughty,” said Wils-Plotz.

Mardi Gras officials are meeting with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on Thursday to discuss this year’s safety and security plan for the event.

No arrests have been made in the robbery case, according to police.
