EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Thousands of dollars worth of electronics were stolen from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, SIUE, according to campus police.

Police say they discovered that a 19-year-old attempted to sell the electronics on eBay. They say the suspect lived in Edwardsville, Illinois near the campus.

Authorities say a suspect stole 14 computer touch screen panels valued at about $1,000 each. They also say a suspect took equipment from several classrooms between August and November of 2015.

According to officials, a police officer checked eBay and saw that eight computer touch screen panels were allegedly listed for sale by the19-year-old.

The serial numbers were visible on the advertisement and matched one of the items stolen from the university, authorities say.

Police say they tracked down the young man and searched his home.

Authorities say they subpoenaed eBay for additional information. The investigation is ongoing.
