(KMOV.com) - Authorities are warning people about a new phone scam where the culprit offers to help enroll the victim in the food stamp program.
When the scammers call, they offer to enroll the person answering in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and ask for personal information. Authorities also believe the caller offers victims help to sign up for a home security system.
A 1-800 number that appears on the victim’s caller id is spoofed.
Anyone who receives this call should hang up immediately and call police.
