ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Steve Perron is the producer of the investigative unit at News 4. He is also a local singer/songwriter and host of one of the most popular weekly open mics in St. Louis, held every Tuesday night at The Wolf in Ballwin.

When it became clear that the NFL was going to approve the relocation of the Rams to L.A., former KMOV staffer, Steve Houston suggested the parody written based on the theme of Sixties sitcom, “The Beverly Hillbillies” which coincidentally told the story of a family from the Ozarks getting rich and moving to Los Angeles (Beverly Hills).

Steve first played a rough draft of the song at his Tuesday night open mic on the night the NFL owners were officially announcing the move to L.A.  After a few tweaks, he performed it with KMOV’s Kent Ehrhardt at The Wolf during their gig there on January 16th. Steve and Kent were playing with News 4 producer, Emily Beck.  Her father, John Beck, a manager with Emmis Communications, suggested Steve record the song to play on Emmis radio stations.

Steve recorded it the following weekend.  Steve says that while he wrote the song with “feeling and passion”, he harbors no ill will toward the fans in L.A. or current Rams players.

A parody, written and performed by Steve Perron.
Recorded and engineered by Seth Brand of “Off Brand Productions”

Ballad of Stan Kroenke
(to tune of Beverly Hillbillies theme)

Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Stan
Back in 2010 said I think I'll buy the Rams
Told everybody don't you worry 'bout me
Gonna stay right here in St. Louis Mi-zer-y
               (.. liar  -
              two faced...  )

Next thing you know he was cryin' bout the dome
This stadium stinks and I need a new home
So we spent a bunch of money on a bunch of new stuff
But Stan said Nope - that ain't good enough
             ( I need top tier - )
             ( It's in the lease - you know )

Well the fans were all mad but Stan didn't care
He didn't have to 'cause he's a billionaire
Said Californy is the place I wanna be
Gonna pack up my team and move to Beverly
            ( -  or... Inglewood!)
            ( - that's close)
           ( - I'll be a star!)

So it's clear that Stan is full of hot air
His promises are fake  - just like his hair
But before you go here's a piece of my mind
You can stick your team where the sun don't shine!
(  here, let me help )
            (  just...  bend over there..)
