ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Thieves are stealing valuables while vehicles are parked at gas station pumps.

Surveillance video shows a guy sneaking into a car at the QuikTrip in Affton, stealing a purse and then leaving in his car like nothing happened.

Police call these thieves “sliders” for the way they slide into the vehicle. Suspects have been caught on camera sneaking into cars all over the country.

Authorities in Affton have caught two suspects who are now facing felony charges, but police say thieves are sure to strike again.

“It’s strange that they do it in broad daylight early morning, everybody’s going to work it just seems like they’re taking advantage of people not paying attention,” said Brian Boedicker, Affton-Southwest Precinct Intelligence Officer.

Police told News 4 the crimes are happening at gas stations near major intersections. They also said the thieves are typically targeting women.
