ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- St. Louis firefighters have been busy this winter, and the recent cold weather is making their task tougher.

Firefighters told News 4 their equipment is impacted by the weather.

“Anytime the temperature dips below freezing we have to adjust,” Capt. Garon Mosby said.

While fighting a fire, the water they use can freeze.

“We have to make sure we are constantly circulating the water in the trucks,” Capt. Mosby said. “It also impacts the important equipment.”

Before the temperatures dipped, firefighters were already dealing with equipment that had a habit of breaking down.

The St. Louis Board of Alderman is considering a $25 Million measure that would provide new equipment for firefighters.
