Traffic nightmare as slick roads created a slow-go during rush hour

Posted: Updated:

(KMOV.com) – Snow that rolled in late Tuesday afternoon and causing traffic problems on area roads.

Rush hour traffic on many area roads and highways was slow. Snowy conditions caused a car to slide off the road on I-270 in north St. Louis County. There was also an accident on WB I-44 near Lewis Road in Eureka and on WB I-70 near the Blanchette Bridge.

MoDOT estimated that drivers going from downtown St. Louis to Wentzville faced a three hour drive on Interstate 70 around rush hour.

Many roads are snow covered, allowing plow trucks to go out and plow the snow to the side of the road.

MoDOT says there were two collisions Tuesday night due to weather conditions: westbound on I-270 past Lilac Avenue. The left lane was closed. There was also a wreck eastbound on I-70 at O'Fallon Park. Two left lanes were closed.
