ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Homicide is investigating after a man was shot and killed in the Greater Ville neighborhood Monday morning.

Around 10:45 a.m., a gun battle broke out in the 4000 block of St. Ferdinand. Stray bullets hit a house and shot a man inside the home.

29-year-old Lenny Hogan, of the 1700 block of Cochran place, was pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s identity has not been released.

Danielle Williams said she was inside her home when bullets came flying in. She said she was in her bed when she saw bullets going over her head.

"Stay low and tell my kids to get on the floor and pray because they were coming so close, I thought they were going everywhere, I swear it was so scary, I ain't never seen anything like that," said Williams.

Williams said it was too shocking to believe, the guns firing on St. Ferdinand, piercing a window in her son's bedroom, hitting the home's thermostat. She does have heat in her home due to the stray bullet.

With the thermostat out, Williams said the home's furnace is no longer working. She said she asked her landlord to fix the thermostat, but she has yet to receive a response.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
