ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Jamyha Luss was laid to rest on January 26 from a fatal shooting by a teenager.

A 14-year-old boy is charged with second degree murder and is in the custody of juvenile authorities. He is accused of shooting Luss, 14.

Luss was inside a friend’s house in the 5300 block of Patton when she sustained a gunshot wound to the back around 3:30 p.m on January 17.

Luss was transported to a local hospital, but later died.

According to police, an investigation revealed two male juveniles, one of which was armed with a gun, stopped by the home to visit. Both of the juveniles left the home before officers arrived.

Florence Rice, cousin to Luss said, "She was a very loving, caring person and everyone loved her. She danced a lot and she sung. And done video shoots everyday and right before she got killed, she did a video shoot and was dancing and singing and being the very beautiful person she's always been."

The homeowner described Luss as her daughter’s best friend. Neighbors are saying the shooting is an uncommon occurrence.

"It's a shame, it's a shame, but you know you don't have structure around houses no more," said Alonzo Shepherd, neighbor.

According to authorities, Luss is the fourth child to be the victim of gun violence in the St. Louis area in the last four weeks and the third to be killed.

The investigation is ongoing.
