Out of town volunteers help clean up after flooding

Posted: Updated:

Volunteers are coming in from all over the country to help flood victims in Jefferson County clean up.

The Southern Baptist Convention has sent 800 disaster response volunteers to Missouri. Part of their work includes pulling out muddy, water-logged carpet, ripping out wet drywall, cleaning and disinfecting.

Several volunteers who drove nearly 1200 miles from New Mexico told News 4 they do more than flood clean up.

“We do flood work, forest fires, ice storms and earthquakes,” said Tom Zumbro with the Southern Baptist Convention.

A multi-agency resource center will be open in Arnold to assist flood victims and help them sign up for debris removal and housing assistance. It will be open Saturday from 10:00-6:00 p.m at the Fox School District Resource Center, which is located at 849 Jeffco Boulevard.
