ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Surveillance video has been released of a South City store clerk defending herself against an armed robbery suspect.

The suspect is seen on the newly released video entering the Asian World Market, located on Cherokee, on January 4 around 5:15 p.m.

After entering the store, the suspect pointed a firearm at the 63-year-old woman behind the counter and demanded money. The woman then got her firearm and pointed it at the suspect.

"I grabbed my gun I say I kill you too," Sone Maniphonh, the clerk, said. "My husband and him push each other around, I can't shoot  because I may shoot my husband too."

The suspect fired his gun several times, hitting various locations inside the store, before leaving.

While he was exiting the store, the suspect pushed a 64-year-old employee who was standing by the front door, causing a laceration to his face.

"Then he pulled my husband down, I shoot him right away, swear to God I don't want to kill people," Maniphonh said. "I'm too old but I have to protect myself and my husband."

The suspect was last seen running from the store south on Cherokee.

The suspect was described as being in his late-teens or early 20s, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 with a medium build. He was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and a multi-colored backpack at the time of the incident.

"Thank you to God, I don't want to kill him, lucky I don't kill him and he don't kill me," Maniphonh said.

CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
