Murder charges filed against 2 in Carr Square neighborhood homicide

Charges have been filed after an 18-year-old man was shot and killed in the Carr Square neighborhood of north St. Louis in mid-January.

John Kimble, of Ferguson, was fatally shot in the 1300 block of N. 8th Street around 3:30 p.m on January 13. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Prosecutors charged Tavon Gray, 17, of the 800 block of N. Leonard Avenue and Travon Witherspoon.

An investigation into the shooting revealed that two suspects fired the shots from inside a black Dodge Magnum with extensive hail damage to the hood. Police said a witnesses was able to identify Gray.

The shooting was about six blocks from a double homicide on earlier in the week.

Henry Williams, 24, was found lying in the street unconscious, and 23-year-old Tyler Bogan, of the 4500 block of Evans, was found in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that had struck a concrete barrier. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the shooting revealed that both men were inside the vehicle when they sustained the gunshot wounds.

No arrests have been made in either shooting investigation.
