HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police say two armed robberies that occurred within a week apart could be connected.

On New Year’s Eve, a Hazelwood man was robbed and pistol whipped outside of his car on Bascom Drive.

On January 7, authorities say a similar armed robbery took place in Hazelwood on Flora Drive near Williams Boulevard. According to police, a pizza delivery driver was held up at gun point after making a delivery.

Captain James Hudanick, Hazelwood Police Department said, “When he came back to his car, he was approached from behind by a subject dressed in all black, hoodie, face covered. He was struck upside the head with a handgun and money was demanded.”

Police believe the same suspect is responsible for both armed robberies.

“They were both in the street, there was a sudden attack, demanding money and then fleeing the scene,” said Hudanick.

Police are asking Hazelwood residents to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.
