SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Upstate animal rescue group located a 6-foot tall emu that escaped from an enclosure.

Izzie's Pond is a non-profit organization working to provide rescue and rehabilitation to sick, injured and orphaned wildlife. The group recently rescued "Ume," a female emu, from a hunt club in Bennettsville.

Ume escaped a locked enclosure in Simpsonville on Sunday but has since been captured.

Greg Askew with Izzie's Pond said Ume looks intimidating but is very friendly and social.
