ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

St. Louis Aldermen will have another opportunity to secure funding to help replace outdated equipment for first responders.

Scott Ogilvie, the alderman of the 24th Ward, plans on raising $25 million to help with purchasing new and improved equipment. He said on Twitter that he plans to do so without a tax increase. Instead, Ogilvie will try to raise the funds through an existing bond capacity.

On Twitter, Ogilvie said passing the bond is critical to maintain essential service for residents.

There was a measure to try and raise $180 million for the cause, but the bond issue failed to get the votes needed to pass.

Months prior, Fire Chief Dennis Jackson told News 4 the fire trucks and other emergency vehicles would sometimes break down on the way to fire calls. He said some of the equipment is 25 years old.
