ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A North County police officer struck the side of a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer Friday morning.

The officer’s vehicle failed to yield at the intersection of Hanley and Highway 180, striking the side of the other vehicle around 1:30 a.m., according to the traffic crash report. It was originally believed the officer struck a parked vehicle, but it was later determined the vehicle was occupied at the time of the crash.

The police car sustained front and side damage in the crash at St. Charles Rock Road and Hanley.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital. The officer sustained a minor injury and the other driver was moderately injured, officials said.

Traffic signals in the area were out for several hours while emergency crews responded to the scene. Missouri Department of Transportation crews were in the area working to get them up and running before the morning commute.
