Some flood victims at Pontoon Beach mobile home park facing eviction

Some residents of a Pontoon Beach mobile home park who were evacuated due to flooding may now be facing eviction.

Some residents of Mallard Lake Mobile Home Park recently returned home after flood waters receded. Many reached out to News 4 after being told they had pay rent while they were evacuated, but now many say they came home to find eviction notices on their doors. The notices give them five days to pay up or leave.

“To get this really made me made,” said Patricia Waters.  “They could have waited, they definitely could have waited.”

Waters told News 4 she paid half her rent on January 1 even though she was unsure if she would return home.

“I would have paid the full amount but have to have the money to survive and we we’re getting down to our last penny,” said Waters. “Why should you pay for something when you can’t even get into it and you’re worried about your pipes freezing, people breaking in.”

At least one other resident received an eviction notice. Trailer park management said the notices are part of protocol, which is determined by the trailer park’s corporate owner. News 4 made multiple attempts to reach out to the owners, but did not hear back.
