CREVE COEUR, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Police arrested a woman for allegedly stealing a car on Aug. 15 in front of Mercy Hospital.

Ruby Caffey, 40, allegedly stole a man's 2014 Kia Optima outside the hospital's emergency room. Police say that when the car was recovered in St. Louis, the suspect left her municipal court summons with her name on the document. Investigators say that Caffey was admitted to the hospital earlier in the day and the car was stolen shortly after she was discharged.

Police say she abandoned the car because it wouldn't start. Caffey is charged with Stealing a Motor Vehicle, a Class C Felony.
