Prosecutors charge 25-year-old with homicide in north St. Louis County

NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

Authorities have charged 25-year-old Demarko Jones with the shooting death of 24-year-old Mark Johnson, following an altercation in North St. Louis County Wednesday.

Johnson was fatally shot in the front yard of the Jones' residence in the 10100 block of Duke, after police said the two had an argument that escalated. Jones and Johnson did not have a prior relationship according to police, and the source of the initial confrontation is unknown at this time. 

Jones remained on the scene and was taken into custody, later being charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of armed criminal action. He is being held on $500,000 bond.

    Missouri Republican Gov. Eric Greitens made his first public appearance in nearly two weeks since acknowledging an extramarital affair, announcing a budget plan that would slice at least $68 million from public colleges and universities, but the budget wasn't the only thing discussed.
