ALTON, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A 47-year-old Alton man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly unlawfully entered an Alton home and shot himself. 

Norzell C. Pittman is accused of entering a home in the 1200 block of Highland Avenue and threatening to use force against the home’s occupant, who was visiting the residence.

During an altercation between the two, Pittman shot himself in the hand, police said.

Pittman is also charged with armed habitual criminal and unlawful possession of weapons by a felon. He was previously convicted of a forcible felony and a cocaine offense in Madison County, according to court records.

Pittman is currently being held on a $200,000 bail.
