HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A Hazelwood man told News 4 he was robbed and pistol whipped as he was getting something out of his car in front of his own home on New Year’s Eve.

The man said he went to his car on Bascom Drive to get some candy around 7:30 p.m. Right after he opened the car door, he had a gun point at his face, the 66-year-old man said.

“I kind of bent down like this to feel for the key and I wasn’t paying attention at that time. He pulled up and said ‘give me your wallet,’ and he stuck the gun my face,” the victim said.

The man said he then complied with the suspect's demands, but was pistol whipped anyway. When police arrived, the victim said detectives used dogs to track the suspect’s scent, but later lost it.

The man also said it was dark and he did not get a clear look at the suspect.
