Major flooding in Union, Mo; businesses underwater

Posted: Updated:

UNION, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Significant flooding has shutdown a large portion of Union, Missouri, in Franklin County.

Video from SkyZoom4 tells the story, but from what you can see, many businesses and neighborhoods are facing rising waters in the wake of the last three days of rain.

At this point, the rainfall has left our area, but the waters may continue to rise through early Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, flood stage for the Bourbeuse River at Union is 15 feet. Current levels of this river are at 34.22 feet, beating the previous record of 33.79 feet which was set on December 5, 1982. The river is expected to crest, or reach it's highest point at 35 feet.

It is important to remember that only a few inches of water running across the road can move your vehicle.
