JEFFERSON COUNTY (KMOV.com) – Many residents in Jefferson County are on edge about waters rising in their surrounding area.

In July 2015, mobile homes at Lakeside Manor were flooded out due to heavy rains. Within the hour, water levels were extremely high, flooding the mobile home park.

Sam Ruch, resident of Lakeside Manor, says he is afraid flooding may happen again due to the rising water levels at Plattin Creek.

Ruch said, “I didn’t pack up last time and I’m not going to pack up this time.”

Rescue teams in Jefferson County had to pull a man from his car out of rising flood waters after he became stranded. The driver claims it was dark and he did not see the water.

Shelia Seaman, another resident in Jefferson County, said, “I’ve been out here helping a friend all night moving stuff from the flood, but before we could get back in to get the dog, it was too late. We couldn’t get back across the water.”

Seaman says the friend who had been moving his things out of his house for about two days had to get into a boat, hoping to reach his dog, but the current swept the boat away.

Seaman says she was trying to get a hold of her friend about the boat being swept away. Luckily, Seaman eventually got in contact with her friend.
