A possible explosion was reported in south St. Louis overnight.

The St. Louis Fire Department responded to the incident, which took place at the intersection of Chippewa Street and Childress Avenue. The street along Chippewa buckled.

The bucking was caused by a large electrical wiring failure underground, according to an Ameren Missouri spokesman. City workers and emergency crews investigated the scene to find out what caused the electrical failure. But it is likely weather related.

Laclede Gas was also on the scene, but according to a representative of the gas company, they were on the scene to make sure the accident was not gas-related.

No injuries stemming from the incident were reported.
