St. Charles-based company allegedly capitalizing on fear to rip people off

( - People who ordered a specific stocking stuffer are finding themselves left in the lurch by a local company.

Close to three hundred people have complained to the Better Business Bureau (BBB)--frustrated beyond belief. It appears this business is capitalizing off people who want to give cool gifts, and off of people's concerns about recent terrorist attacks and shootings.

The company goes by ILMG Corporation and University of Guns, as well as other names. It's based in St. Charles.

Consumers have been blasted by emails with ads offering this $57 flashlight. In some ads, the company implies you need this product to protect yourself and feel safer.

Many unsuspecting people have purchased it as a stocking stuffer, only to find it's not arriving or that it's no good.

Worse, if you buy from them, the company automatically enrolls you in an on-going membership for something called the National Gun Owner Association and it charges big bucks every month.

Consumers complain they can't get ever get a hold of anyone at the company and neither could News 4.

Bill Smith with the Better Business Bureau says it's clear the company is preying on people's concerns.

“At one point we were receiving 20-30 complaints per day. That is a huge number for us that is beyond anything I can remember,” Smith said.

The company has an F rating with the BBB. So beware before you buy and always read that fine print! We've got additional information from the BBB here
