Animal rights activists protest downtown St. Louis horse drawn carriages

Posted: Updated:

DOWNTOWN ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) - Animal rights activists are expected to protest the horse drawn carriages in downtown St. Louis.

Protesters believe operators are treating the horses inhumanely.

The protest comes after St. Louis City Court dismissed a petition that would have called upon the Taxicab Commission to regulate the carriages.

The protest is scheduled to be held tonight at Tilles Park in Ladue. It is the same location where a horse died two years ago while pulling a carriage through the annual "Winter Wonderland" light display.
