ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A hostage situation in the 800 block of Elmhurst in St. Charles ended with the suspect turning himself into police once the SWAT team arrived.

Dwayne Lund, 46, surrendered to officers by exiting the front door of the house at 10:49 p.m. Monday night. Police say Lund was holding his girlfriend against her will.

Police haven't released her identity.

She called police, stating she was handcuffed behind her back. According to police, the woman also had her legs tied together using a telephone charging cord and tied the cord to the handcuffs. She said that Lund had an armed weapon and was pointing it at her head.

When officers arrived at the scene, they maintained phone communication with the victim. She told officers that Lund began walking around the house and entered the garage area, which gave her adequate time to escape to police safety.

Police say that they maintained a security perimeter around the suspect's residence. They were unable to make contact with the suspect via telephone or loudspeaker. The St. Charles Regional SWAT was requested to barricade the suspect. Once they arrived, Lund surrendered to police using the front door.

Lund is being held in custody for second degree domestic assault, felonious restraint and armed criminal action. Lund is a prior domestic assault offender. His bond is set a $100,000, cash only.
