Drug dealer chased buyers following verbal altercation , police say

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – An investigation is underway following an incident that occurred in the westbound lanes of Interstate 44 Tuesday morning.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, an off-duty officer saw two vehicles driving erratically. After the vehicles were spotted, one of them, a truck, fled the scene.

The other vehicle, a car, struck a wall on westbound Interstate 44 near Kingshighway.

An investigation revealed the occupants of the car, a man and woman, were attempting to purchase drugs on Natural Bridge when they got into a verbal altercation with the drug dealer, police said. During the verbal altercation, the seller began chasing the car.   

The ramp from Kingshighway to the westbound lanes of the interstate were closed from 10:30 until 11:15 a.m. while emergency crews responded. 

There were no known injuries.
