WASHINGTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The crash of a stolen car into a Washington, Mo., home caused the home to be condemned Saturday night.

The car was stolen out of Gray Summit only hours earlier, police said. The driver was speeding down the street, when he lost control and crashed into the home which was empty at the time, police said.

“We were at a holiday party out of town and we got a call that our home had been hit by a vehicle,” said homeowner Megan Boland.

Police said neighbors heard the crash, chased the suspect, and tried to hold him until police arrived. However, the suspect claimed he had a gun and fled.

The house was condemned, but the homeowner told News 4 she is glad nobody was injured. The homeowners’ family said it will stay with relatives in Washington until the house is repaired.
