Man arrested for allegedly stabbing child in stomach

Posted: Updated:

(KMOV.com) – The St. Louis County Police Department arrested a man who they say allegedly stabbed a child in the stomach.

The incident happened Thursday after Andrew Plaster, 20, of the 1700 block of Herault Place, was watching the victim. According to police, Plaster was armed with a knife at the time of the incident. The stabbing resulted in a serious, physical injury to the five-year-old.

Originally, Plaster told police he didn’t know what happened, then said the victim stabbed himself. Later, he changed to story saying he accidentally stabbed the victim when the two turned into each other while he held the knife.

Plaster has been charged with abuse or neglect of a child-serious injury, assault in the first degree, and armed criminal action. He is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
