Escaped inmates found in field near facility they escaped from

RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Police have captured two inmates who escaped from the Dixon Springs Impact Incarceration Program Sunday.

The staff noticed Jerrette Reed and Kevin Rivera missing around 5:50 p.m. Reed is serving a three-year sentence on meth related charges out of Randolph County. Rivera is serving a five-year sentence for the manufacture and delivery of cocaine out of Cook County.

The two were apprehended without incident in a field about a mile away from the facility just before 9 a.m. Monday, police said.

After being escorted back to the facility, fed and given a medical examination, they will be transferred to a maximum security prison.

The IDOC worked with local authorities to apprehend the offenders.

Dixon Springs, Illinois is located two and a half hours southeast of St. Louis.
