ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A woman was shot and killed after she opened fire on a SWAT team while barricaded inside a home, according to the St. Louis County Police Department.

The incident happened in the 6600 block of Foothills Court around 12:00 p.m. in north St. Louis county.

According to investigators, the 61-year-old female suspect, identified as Sheilah Huck, was arguing with another woman, 35, when Huck shot the victim multiple times. Investigators claim Huck was unprovoked in the argument. Huck and victim were neighbors. When police were called to the scene, Huck barricaded herself inside her home. The female victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Huck was inside the home for a few hours as police tried to contact her, which proved to be unsuccessful. A supervisor on scene requested to have the Tactical Operations Unit deployed at the home. They also tried to talk to Huck, but that also failed. Around 4:20 p.m., officers were able to gain entry into the house, but that's when Huck opened fire on officers. Police returned fire, killing her. No officers were injured.

Several neighbors and witnesses say Huck had been acting erratic prior to the shooting.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
