ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Two children and one adult have been freed from a burning home in south St. Louis.

The site of the fire is in the 4100 block of Tyrolean Avenue, near Carondelet Park. Fire crews rescued two children from the house as well as one adult male. All three have been transported to the hospital.

The two children, a young girl and her little brother, are listed in stable condition while the man is listed in critical condition.

According to St. Louis Fire Department, the young girl woke up to smoke and went to go get her younger brother. Both of them escaped the house on their own.

The adult male, the children's grandfather, had to be rescued by fire fighters.

At this time, it is not known what caused the fire in the two-story home. Fire officials have confirmed there were working smoke detectors in the home at the time of the fire.
