ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – One person is in critical condition following a destructive and fiery crash occurred in downtown St. Louis overnight.

The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of North Broadway and Washington, forcing the roadway closed for hours.

Dozens of firefighters responded to the crash and assisted in cutting the driver from one of the vehicles out. After being freed from the car, the 30-year-old driver was taken to the hospital in critical, unstable condition.

According to police, the three people inside the other car ran from the scene following the crash. One was later found and treated for an arm injury.

The same intersection was the scene of a deadly motorcycle accident in August 2014. Dwight Young Junior was killed and his passenger was seriously injured when his motorcycle hit a car on Washington.
