Former construction CFO sentenced to prison after being convicted of fraud

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- The former chief financial officer of a local construction company was sentenced to 38 months in prison after previously being convicted of federal fraud charges.

Brian Paluch, former CFO and Senior Vice President of PARIC Construction was sentenced to prison and ordered to pay $393,659 restitution to PARIC and a $15,000 fine.

In August, Paluch was found guilty of stealing nearly $150,000 dollars in company funds between January 2010 and February 2014. Paluch allegedly used the money for personal expenses such as spa trips, electronics and gifts for family members and friends.

To conceal the fraud, 59-year-old Paluch submitted false financial summaries and forged signatures on the altered summaries, said a press release.

PARIC Construction was contracted for tax-funded projects in the area. However, the construction company told News 4 that an internal audit has been performed and none of the alleged money taken came from customer or project accounts.
