ST. LOUIS, Mo. ( – On Monday, Anna Crosslin, the Director of the International Institute of St. Louis, along with three other state refugee service contractors will attend a committee hearing addressing the topic of Syrian refugees.

“While we understand that the committee will not take public testimony, I assume that the contractors will have an opportunity to speak since we have been invited,” Crosslin said. “I look forward to doing so.”

During the meeting, they plan to “thoroughly examine the various programs the governor could utilize to provide assistance to refugees,” according to a press release from November 20.

“Much of the public’s concern surrounding Syrian resettlement results from lack of understanding of the existing refugee resettlement security clearances already in place,” Crosslin said. She says 29 Syrian refugees have been resettled in Missouri and they are living in St. Louis.

The International Institute of St. Louis resettles more than 600 refugees annually. The joint committee hearing of the General Assembly meeting will be held on November 30 in House Hearing Room 3 at 10 a.m.
