Teen steals mom's car, hits building and police cruisers in St. Louis County

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A 14-year-old was arrested after he allegedly his stole mother’s car before hitting a building and three police cruisers in north St. Louis County Thursday morning.

The suspect stole his mother’s car and ran into a building in the city, police said. An officer saw the car at the building and tried to pull it over, but the teen kept driving.

The teen then drove into North County where officers from the North County Police Cooperative chased him, police said, before he struck police cars from Normandy, St. Ann, and Maryland Heights. The suspect then allegedly hit another car on Dorsett Road before crashing at the intersection of Dorsett and Marine in Maryland Heights, close to the entrance of Creve Coeur Park.

Police said the teen proceeded to run into the park where he was caught. He will face charges in St. Louis City. When questioned by police, he reportedly told officers he was trying to drive to his grandmother’s house.
