HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Several space heaters are believed to be the cause of a Hazelwood house fire Sunday night.

Around 11 p.m., fire crews responded to a fully-involved house fire in the 920 block of Townhouse Lane.

According to the Hazelwood Fire Department, the blaze started in the garage and spread to the house and two vehicles. The house is believed to be a total loss.

A man and his dog were inside the home when the fire began and were able to escape the blaze safely.

The homeowner told officials he was using flammable liquids in the garage earlier in the day while doing some woodworking.

Officials said there were several space heaters working in the home that most likely sparked the blaze.

The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental.
