Tires, wheels stolen from cars at south St. Louis auto repair shop

Posted: Updated:

A south St. Louis auto repair shop is the latest victim of a big wheel and tire heist; the thieves working overnight and putting cars up on concrete blocks.

“It's really frustrating. You feel like what can I do to protect myself?” said Joe Rapisardo, owner of White Front Service. “And you feel bad for the customers.”

Rapisardo went to his shop on Watson Rd. in the Lindenwood Park Neighborhood on Friday morning and discovered a total of five cars put up on concrete blocks. All of the wheels and tires had been stolen from the cars. White Front Service has been in business since 1935 and Rapisardo said this type of crime is new for the shop. He believes multiple suspects committed the crime.

“Five [cars] in one night that means there had to be more than one, there might have been three or four of them,” said Rapisardo.

News 4 has been tracking this crime trend for months. There have been many cases of St. Louis residents waking up to find their vehicles on concrete blocks and their wheels and tires missing.

Rapisardo said he is now considering installing surveillance cameras on his car lot and putting wheel locks on the vehicles he is servicing.

No arrests have been made in connection to this latest theft.
