ST. LOUIS -- Police used ONSTAR to catch a suspected car thief after the man allegedly carjacked a 64-year-old woman Sunday.

According to authorities, at around 5:30 pm, Andrew Sanders pulled University City resident from her car in the parking lot of a Mobil gas station in the 8000 block of Page in Vinita Terrace.

Sanders reportedly pointed to an item in his shirt, which the woman presumed was a handgun. She was thrown to the ground and Sanders reportedly fled. Police were called, and after putting out an alert on the car (a 2009 Saturn) coordinated with ONSTAR to locate the vehicle.

The car was located in the 8600 block of Riverview in St. Louis. Sanders was taken into custody without incident and the car was returned to the victim. Sanders, 26, later confessed to the crime and was charged with first degree robbery. He is being held on $100,000 cash-only bond.
