Loop Trolley Project encounters track installation issues

Posted: Updated:
UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Fifty percent of the Loop Trolley Project track has officially been installed, but something may have gone wrong with the installation of the tracks.

Those involved with the project say the tracks along Delmar and east of Skinker may be too close to the curb to allow cars to park. Business owners say the doors of parked cars open up over the tracks and create hassle for customers.

Joe Edwards, Trolley Project spokesman, says they may decide to move the curb back another foot-and-a-half to create more room for parked cars.

The $43 million project will create a two-mile loop to connect riders from Delmar to the History Museum in Forest Park. Work began in March of this year and is scheduled to be complete in 2016.
