CAHOKIA, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A person was fatally shot during a home invasion in unincorporated Cahokia early Monday morning, police said.

Just after 12:45 a.m., the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department was called to the 100 block of Amelia Drive in reference to the incident.

When police arrived, they learned that Jermion D. Conley had died of the injuries sustained during the home invasion. Police do not believe it was random and also think the victim and suspect knew each other.

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was activated to investigate the case. According to police, the Major Case Squad is currently pursuing several leads.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Commander Jason Donjon at (618) 825-5200 or the St. Louis Regional CrimeStoppers at (866) 371-TIPS (8477).
