Changes coming to Boone Bridge starting Wednesday night

Posted: Updated:

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – The westbound lanes of Interstate 64 will be moved off the Boone Bridge Wednesday night.

Crews will close the lanes just before the Chesterfield Airport starting at 7 p.m. Two of the three lanes are expected to reopen by 5 Thursday morning.

Starting Thursday morning, all traffic will be diverted to the 1980s bridge, which previously carried all eastbound traffic. Three lanes will open across the bridge by Thursday afternoon with the right lane remaining closed until the end of the year.

There will also be a traffic split leading up to the bridge which will remain in place until mid-November.

The $111 million construction project began in January 2013 with the new eastbound bridge opening to traffic in June, which allowed crews to begin rehabbing the 1980s bridge for westbound traffic.
