South City business owner thinks truck battery thieves targeted his establishment

Another business is coming forward after seeing a News 4 report about thieves stealing truck batteries in North St. Louis.

Shawn Marquis is the sales manager at Session Fixture in South County and the latest victim. He says the suspect(s) pulled right into the parking lot and were in and out with in just 10 minutes.

Surveillance cameras were rolling Saturday night just before midnight when a white SUV pulled into Marquis’ parking lot. He thinks the SUV is a late model Ford Escape. Surveillance video Marquis shared with News 4 appears to show the car circle the parking lot and park right next to the truck.

“He unbolted this top step, dropped it down, ripped the cover off, pulled the batteries out, he knew exactly what he was going for,” said Marquis. “I know 100-percent it is this vehicle on our video.”

He says there is no doubt the thieves are the same ones who took the batteries for five businesses in North St. Louis.

“I'm very frustrated. It costs us almost $200 worth of batteries, he ripped the panel off the battery cover, that's another $150, another $100 in battery components to wire them back together not to mention our time and trouble.”

Marquis has handed over the surveillance video to police.
